McKenzie’s Landing
A Historic Wooden Platform
McKenzie’s Landing is a historic wooden platform located in the waters of Denial Bay, about 14 km west of Ceduna. Built in the late 1800s, it was once a key hub for local farmers and traders, serving as a loading point for goods before the Denial Bay Jetty was constructed.
At low tide, horse-drawn carts brought produce to the landing, where it was then transferred by small boats to larger ships anchored offshore. This unique maritime setup highlights the resourcefulness of early settlers in the region.
Today, McKenzie’s Landing stands as a fascinating piece of South Australia’s maritime heritage. Visitors can explore the site and enjoy views across the calm bay waters, imagining the bustling activity that once took place here.
It’s a must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone interested in the coastal stories of the Far West.
